Popkomm begins on 8th October 2008 and that must be celebrated in style. The legendary Popkomm Opening Party takes place the evening before the first exhibition day at the Popkomm Festival Centre in the Kulturbrauerei. Our exhibitors and special guests are invited.

Popkomm goes Moscow. On 18th June 2008 Popkomm did a reception at IKRA Club in Moscow. After the reception the fantastic band Tri State Corner presented itself to the Russian audience.

10th March 2008 New York:
The Popkomm team made good use of the North American festival and conference season for a public relations tour. Popkomm in cooperation with US Independent Association A2IM and Brasil Música e Artes (BMA) invited their media sector partners to the Common Ground bar in Manhattan’s East Village. Festival Manager Dirk Schade and Product Manager Klaus Gropper used the intimate atmosphere for preliminary discussions about the music exhibition in Berlin in October. A2IM President Richard Bengloff and BMA Manager David McLoughlin showed themselves to be worthy Popkomm campaigners by recommending the German trade show to their American colleagues. McLoughlin also said that for all of the participating Brazilian companies the exhibition partnership in 2006 was worth every invested penny and most of the companies are now visiting Berlin regularly.
14th March 2008 Austin / South by Southwest:
There was a great response to the European Metal Reception on the 14th March presented by Popkomm, MusikWoche, MTV, Export Music Sweden and Music Export Norway at the SxSW trade show in the Texan capital Austin. Business partners from all over the world were invited to make contacts and compare notes. Afterwards Norwegian and Swedish Metal bands Sabaton, Avatar, Goat the Head, 1349 and Enslaved rocked into the night on stage at the Red 7 club. Metal will be playing a bigger role at Popkomm in the future and will have its own dedicated Metal showcase at Popkomm Club K17 in 2008.
