Dr. Urs Gasser serves as the Executive Director of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. Before joining the Berkman Faculty, he was a Professor of Law at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), where he led the Research Center for Information Law. Gasser studied law at the University of St. Gallen and at Harvard Law School. He has published several books and dozens of articles in the areas of law and policy. For his research, he has received several prizes and awards. Most recently, he co-authored with John Palfrey the book “Born Digital: Understanding the First Generation of Digital Natives” (Basic Books, 2008), which has been translated into several languages, including German, Russian, and Chinese. In Born Digital, the authors describe how young people use digital media and analyze the risks and opportunities associated with these new usages.
