Medienwoche@IFA: congress, trade fair and events
Under
the heading of medienwoche@IFA the Berlin Media Week 2008 took place from 29 August to 5 September. For the first time the
conferences, panel discussions and keynotes held by Medienboard,
Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg and Gesellschaft für
Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik (gfu), the organisers of
the IFA, were forming part of a joint programme of congress events.
As a result of this collaboration visitors to the fair and congress were presented with a conference programme with harmonised
timetables and content, which took on and discussed the issues of
media politics, the content and device industry, and during their visit
to the IFA also brought them into direct contact with the innovations of
the CE industry.
International Media Congress
As one of the first media conferences to take place this three-day
event focused on how the internet has transformed the media world. Discussion centred on developments on the
international media market, the consequences for media structures and
society, the demands on media policies, and presenting new contents and
business models.
Speakers were among others: BBC Chairman Mark Thompson, Mark Goldman (Current Media), Jeremy
Allaire (Brightcove), Marco Börries (Yahoo! USA), Christiane zu
Salm (Hubert Burda Media), Markus Schächter (ZDF), Achim Berg
(Microsoft), Wolf Bauer (UFA), Dr. Bernd Buchholz (Gruner + Jahr),
Marcus Englert (ProSiebenSat.1), Carsten Schmidt (Premiere).
