The Berlin Exhibition Grounds – the ideal film location
Did you know that in real life the customs building in Naples seen in the film ”The Bourne Supremacy“ was actually on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds?
Since the fall of the Wall and German unification Berlin has become a vibrant European metropolis. Blending both past and present and East and West in its inimitable way, the city has established itself as an ideal location for film shoots. Decisively contributing to this are the flexibility offered by the Exhibition Grounds and the striking architecture of the ICC.
And so shooting for many film scenes has taken place here. Besides figuring in the above Hollywood production the exhibition grounds can also be seen in the latest Constantin Film entitled ”Elementarteilchen“. And many directors are keen to have the grounds as a backdrop for their commercials and music videos too. Well-known names such as Prada, Volvo and Sparkasse have all filmed here.
Hardly surprising really, as the 160,000 square metres are a treasure trove for every kind of film backdrop and photographic subject. Be they airy foyers, dark basements, endless corridors, long escalators or mysterious walkways – the options for the imagination to explore are limitless. Almost every kind of idea for a scene can be transformed into reality, be it a spaceship, department store or a summer lawn.
