BERLIN FASHION WEEK

In January 2006 Berlin received the UNESCO title "City of Design". The title honours Berlin's creative buzz and the works of Berlin based designers, photographers, artists and architects - and deservedly so! Berlin is a young experimental city, constantly in search of new and exciting cultural expressions and prepared to take creative risks in everything - from fashion to architecture, art to cuisine, music to habitation. Realising the city's potential as the cultural epicentre of Europe, the senate of Berlin backs a variety of promising projects such as the BERLIN FASHION WEEK.

As the recent influx of American fashion and with it a particular style of wholesaling, marketing and retailing has reached the point of saturation, fashion itself is starting its own revolution and prepares its homecoming to Europe. In light of changing priorities for buyers, stagnating business and cuts to travel budgets, finding a show that offers both men's and women's clothing early in the season, in a great environment, for half the cost of most other cities, means that they can spend longer in one location, do more work, spend less money, and feel that they have achieved a huge amount.

Thanks to the openness of its people and the low prices for everything from hotels to restaurants, clubs and shops, Berlin is the perfect location for a show that offers suppliers and buyers alike a great location, excellent facilities, and the best a city has to offer. With the BERLIN FASHION WEEK the fashion industry has a fashion week that it can be proud of.
