Former Special Exhibitions

Based upon the recommendation of the International Art Gallery Advisory Board and the initiative of Paul Maenz ART FORUM BERLIN offered in 2004 for the first time participating galleries an opportunity to present selected artists in a special exhibition project. Entitled "Made in Berlin" and curated by Zdenek Felix (former director of the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg) the exhibition featured works by Berlin-based international artists.

2005, ART FORUM BERLIN again offered a Special Exhibition Project: „Temporary Import“ - focussing the exceptional international artists who have been or currently are guests in Berlin as artists-in-residence of DAAD, Bethanien or other institutions. The Special Exhibition 2005 was curated by Susanne Titz, Director at Museum Abteiberg, Moenchengladbach and has been shown in the generous daylight hall 17 adjacent to the galleries' halls.

Organized by curator Friederike Nymphius, the special exhibition 2006 - BIG CITY LAB - focused on the big city as a laboratory. Since the 19th century, large cities have been regarded as places where dynamic modernisation processes take place. As "experimental fields of modernity" they represent the ongoing transformation of society.
